Birthday bash

View 2002 Russia & Europe via Lebanon & Syria on alexchan's travel map.

We celebrated Kim's birthday in Aleppo [Aleppo-travel-guide-1185271] today (a couple of days late) with an Australian couple we had spent some time with. We couldn't have found a better venue at the Khan Zaman in the alleys of the old Christian Quarter. The restaurant had four levels ... two levels in medieval Arab style, one in contemporary Mediterranean and another set in a cave two storeys underground. Our waiter discouraged us from having the set meal at NZD15 and recommended a la carte options which more than filled us up at NZD10 ... in such an exquisite setting.

There were several other restaurants in the area, including an exclusive boutique hotel which we'll have to come back to ... if we're ever here again. Aleppo is my recommendation if you're ever planning for a wedding ... charming boutique hotels, restaurants ... at an affordable price. Great choice of fabrics at the markets too for making your dream wedding dress!
